$150,000 donated by diocesan Catholic community to help Gaylord tornado victims

Bishop Jeffrey J. Walsh provides an update on the special collection held throughout the Diocese of Gaylord on May 28-29 to support those in need as a result of the May 20 tornado that hit Gaylord:

"It has been three weeks since the tornado struck Gaylord on May 20, and while funds will likely continue to come in over the coming days and weeks, I wanted to provide a brief update regarding the recent Special Collection for those tragically affected by the storm.

"This morning, I presented a gift of $150,000 from our diocesan Catholic community to the Otsego Community Foundation. This significant gift will continue to help provide immediate relief and basic necessities for those in need and help with long-term rebuilding in the community moving forward. To view a short video of myself and members of the Otsego Community Foundation expressing gratitude to all who donated, see below.

"I would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all who made a gift to this special fund. Special thanks to Bishop Raica and the Diocese of Birmingham for their gift of $20,000 and ongoing support and prayers, as well as to the many from other dioceses in Michigan and around the country who have shown their generosity and lifted Gaylord up in their prayers. We are grateful!"
