Combined Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion

Bishop Steven Raica invites all the faithful of the Diocese of Gaylord to the Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at the Cathedral of St. Mary, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Gaylord. The event begins with a welcoming reception at 3:30 p.m . The celebration begins at 4:30 p.m.

The Rite of Election is for all our catechumens who will receive all the sacraments of initiation at the Easter Vigil. The Call to Continuing Conversion is for all those in our diocese who are seeking full communion with the Roman Catholic Church.

All are welcome to come on Marach 5 to support, encourage and pray with those who have been preparing through the RCIA process.

Chrism Mass

The Mass of Chrism will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 11 at 11:00 a.m. Bishop Steven J. Raica invites you to this most solemn and significant liturgy to be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Mary, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Gaylord. During this Mass, Bishop Raica will bless the Oil of the Catechumens, the Oil of the Sick and consecrate the Oil of Holy Chrism. These oils will be used throughout the year at our parishes for anointing adult and infant catechumens, the sick and the sacred Oil of Chrism will be used for anointings at baptism, confirmation, the ordination of priests, and the consecration of altars. If you have never attended the Mass of Chrism, please consider coming this year. It truly is one of the most significant and beautiful liturgies of the the Church.

Solemn Vespers will be held at St. Mary, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cathedral on May 12 at 6:00 p.m. Please come and join in prayer with Deacons Nick Cooper and Bradley Nursey  on the eve of their priestly ordination.
