Join us at Big Ticket Festival
The Diocese of Gaylord has announced that we are the official sponsor for Catholic Artist Matt Maher on Friday, June 24 at the 2016 Big Ticket Music Festival at the Otsego County Fairgrounds in Gaylord. The festival, in its 11th year, has grown to be one of the largest faith-based events in the country, drawing crowds of over 10,000 per day. Families of all faiths travel from around the state to enjoy concerts, speakers, sporting events, the Kid Zone and much more at the family-friendly event. Though Bishop Raica offered the opening prayer last year for the Big Ticket Festival and many of our youth and parishioners have attended in past years, this will be the first time we will have an ongoing official Catholic presence at Big Ticket.
Matt Maher is a GRAMMY®-nominated Catholic musician who has performed throughout the world, including at World Youth Day 2013 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and the 2015 National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) in Indianapolis, Indiana. He has won several international awards and has toured with musicians such as Michael W. Smith and MercyMe. His latest album, Saints and Sinners, reached #2 on the Billboard US Christian Albums Chart, led by the hit “Because He Lives (Amen)”.
As Catholics continue to celebrate this Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy, the diocese will also have a ministry tent at the festival that will focus on the Corporal Works of Mercy and include various interactive opportunities. The tent will be open daily and offer all festival-goers a special opportunity to unite in prayer, to learn about the Catholic faith, and to encounter God through joining in a daily Corporal Work of Mercy.
As a sponsor, the diocese is also able to pass along special discounts on ticket prices. Members are able to purchase passes at the discounted prices of $59 for a 3-day pass, $55 for a 2-day pass, and $30 for a single day pass. Big Ticket also hosts Country Night on Wednesday, June 22, featuring country music artist Scotty McCreery, winner of the 2011 American Idol. Using the diocese ticket link, cost for this concert is discounted to $25. Special pricing is only available online until June 21. Use this link to purchase tickets and be sure to select the lowest price ticket for the day(s) you want to attend.
Also new this year is Camp BTF, a fine arts camp for youth entering 7th-12th grades, being held at the Lost Valley Camp just east of Gaylord from June 20-25. Campers may choose to follow tracks of Vocals, Instrumental, Speaking, or Media Tech. Special guests will be participating in the camp throughout the week, including Matt Maher, B. Haley from TobyMac, Jetty Rae, and Reggie Dabbs. More information can be found online at www.campbtf.com.
