Fr. Miro Wiese has entered Eternal Life

Fr. Miro Wiese, OFM, a friar and priest of the Sacred Heart Province, died on Saturday, May 28, 2016, at St. Mary’s Home at the Felician Village in Manitowoc, WI, at the age of 86. Donald Richard Wiese was born to Joseph and Augusta (nee Rusch) Wiese on July 29, 1929, in St. Paul, MN. He made his Solemn Profession as a Franciscan on July 5, 1954 and was ordained on June 24, 1957.

Fr. Miro served in active ministry for 56 years in Tennessee, Missouri, Minnesota, and Michigan. He retired in 2014 at Blessed Giles Friary in Manitowoc, WI.

During his time in the Diocese of Gaylord, Fr. Miro served as Pastor for Holy Family Parish in West Branch (Klacking Creek) from 1995 until August 1, 2009 when he retired to Senior Priest Status. He then lived and served at Cross in the Woods in Indian River until he moved to Blessed Giles Friary in Manitowoc, Wisconsin in January 2014.

Fr. Miro was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and George Stout; brother, Joseph Wiese, Jr., brother-in-law, Laurence A. Wilmes; one niece, Teresa (Wiese) Trapp; and one nephew, Benjamin Wilmes. He is survived by his sister, Joan Wilmes of Mankato, and her children; sister-in-law, Frances Wiese of St. Paul; Geraldine’s children; and Joseph Jr.’s children and their mother, Dorothy Wiese.

The family will gather at Sacred Heart Church, 840 E. 6th Street, St. Paul, MN at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 17, 2016. A Memorial Mass will follow at noon. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
