Coming Soon! Leadership Training for Women
The Diocesan Council for Catholic Women (DCCW) in the Diocese of Gaylord will host a women’s leadership training on Saturday, October 10, in the Cooney Conference Center of the Diocesan Pastoral Center in Gaylord. “We Are Called to Witness!” was created for the National Council for Catholic Women (NCCW), it is open to all women in the diocese, regardless of their CCW affiliation.
“This training is for all women, whether they consider themselves leaders or not,” said Pat Reymann of the NCCW. Centered on Pope Francis’s call for the New Evangelization, Reymann added that the training “can be helpful in a variety of settings – from church organizations to businesses.”
The day-long training has been offered to women in dioceses across the country and is designed to improve personal skills in many areas. Some of the topics covered include creating a strong foundation for your organization, cultivating a level of communication that reaches your targeted audience, and problem solving in a positive and spiritual way.
This particular program is unique as it was designed specifically for the needs of Catholic women’s groups, and can accommodate groups of all sizes while remaining affordable to all participants.
Encouraging women of all ages and stages of life to attend, Reymann says that this training program “recognizes that there are women who cannot commit to regular attendance [at meetings] but who can be powerhouses of prayer, editors of the newsletter or keepers of the membership list… The Lord calls each of us to do our part in building the Kingdom; we believe that this [Leadership Training] helps!”
To help offset the cost of the day, the NCCW has awarded the Gaylord women’s group a $1,000 grant that will assist in covering the expense of bringing the trainers to Gaylord, as well as program materials, and any other costs associated with the day.
Marcia Albosta, President of Diocese Council of Catholic Women in Gaylord, calls this grant a “blessing,” that makes this program possible in our small diocese. “This training is not just for the current or future leaders, but [is an opportunity] for all of us to learn to lead and support each other,” she said.
The day will begin with a social hour and registration starting at 8:00 a.m. Training will start at 9:00 a.m. and the day will conclude at 4:00 p.m. Cost for participants is $20 per person. Preregistration is necessary in order to properly plan for training materials and lunch, which are included.
