Fr. Larry Kelleher has entered Eternal Life


Reverend Lawrence Aloysius “Larry” Kelleher entered eternal life on March 1, 2015 at the age of 92. He was born July 28, 1922 in Butte, Montana to Edward F. and Winifred (Douglas) Kelleher. After his wife of 42 years, Margaret, passed away on March 3, 1989, he attended Holy Apostles College and Seminary in Cromwell, Connecticut and was ordained to the priesthood on June 11, 1993 by the Most Reverend Patrick R. Cooney at St. Mary Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cathedral in Gaylord, Michigan.

After his ordination, Father Larry served as Associate Pastor for St. Mary Cathedral in Gaylord, Temporary Administrator for St. Philip Neri Parish in Empire, and Associate Pastor at St. Patrick Parish in Traverse City. On August 1, 1995 he was named Pastor for the parishes of St. Catherine in Ossineke and St. Gabriel in Black River and served faithfully there until he retired to senior priest status on July 13, 2005.

Father Larry is survived by four daughters, Kathleen Loughrey, Nancy (Dr. Richard, DVM) Nurse, Rosemary (Richard) Spankie, and Mary (Alan) Silverman; as well as 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 4 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm and on Thursday from 2:00 – 8:00 pm with a vigil service at 7:00 pm at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Road, Troy, Michigan 48084. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 6 beginning at 10:00 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Guardian Angels Parish, 581 East Fourteen Mile Road, Clawson, Michigan 48017. The Most Reverend Steven J. Raica will be the main celebrant for the funeral Mass.

may he and all the souls of the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
