Bishop-Seminarians teaching on the Catechism this week

year_of_faith_logo_english_1.jpgAs part of the Universal Catholic Church’s observance of this “Year of Faith,” the Diocese of Gaylord has been offering sessions in vicariates to enrich our understanding of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Organized in response to Emeritus Pope Benedict XVI’s call in his Apostolic Letter Porta Fidei to embrace the Year of Faith as an opportunity to “rediscover the content of the faith that is professed, celebrated, lived and prayed,” the sessions help participants rediscover the “Hidden Treasure” to be found in the Catechism. The Year of Faith began on October 11, 2012, and will conclude on November 24, 2013.

The first sessions were held in November and since that time sessions have been held montly in each of the six vicariates of the Diocese of Gaylord. Instructors have included Bishop Bernard Hebda, clergy and catechetical leaders from throughout the diocese focusing on the Creed, the liturgy and the Sacraments.

In June, presenters will be the seminarians of the Diocese of Gaylord who will discuss the Sacraments of Holy Orders and Matrimony. Sessions will be held:

  • Monday, June 17, at St. Joseph in Manistee from 1-3 pm and 7-9 pm
Presenter:  Fr. Don Geyman, Vocations Director

  • Tuesday, June 18, at St. Pius X in Hale from 1-3 pm
