OFFICIAL DIOCESAN APPOINTMENTS

The Most Reverend Bernard A. Hebda, Bishop of the Diocese of Gaylord, announces the following appointments:

Effective June 17, 2012

Rev. Gerard Hunko has been named Pastor for the parishes of St. Pius X in Hale, St. James in Whittemore and St. Stephen in Skidway Lake.

Effective July 9, 2012

Rev. John Paul Bashe has been appointed as Parochial Vicar for the parishes of Holy Family in East Tawas and Sacred Heart in Oscoda. The assignment was made with the permission of the Most Reverend Oliver Dashe Doeme, Bishop of Maiduguri.

Rev. Craig Haider has been appointed Parochial Vicar for the parishes of St. Ann in Cadillac, St. Edward in Harrietta, St. Stephen in Lake City and St. Theresa in Manton. This assignment was made with the permission of the Most Reverend Robert H. Brom, Bishop of San Diego. Fr. Haider has been serving as Parochial Vicar for the parishes of Sacred Heart in Oscoda and Holy Family in East Tawas.

Rev. Santiago Hoyumpa has been appointed Pastor of St. Mary Parish in Mio and St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Lewiston. He has been serving as Parochial Vicar for the parishes of St. Stephen in Lake City, St. Ann in Cadillac, St. Edward in Harrietta and St. Theresa in Manton

Rev. Lawrence J. Sergott has been appointed Parochial Vicar for the parishes of Our Lady of the Lake in Prudenville and St. Michael in Roscommon. He has been serving as Pastor of St. Mary in Mio and St. Francis of Assisi in Lewiston.

Effective July 10, 2012

Rev. Polycarp Mblarawa has been appointed Parochial Vicar of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Traverse City. This assignment is made with the permission of the Most Reverend Oliver Dashe Doeme, Bishop of Maiduguri. Fr. Mblarawa has been serving as Parochial Vicar for the parishes of St. Mary Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cathedral in Gaylord, Holy Redeemer in Vanderbilt, and St. Thomas Aquinas in Elmira.

Rev. Peter T. Wigton has been appointed as Parochial Vicar for the parishes of St. Mary Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cathedral in Gaylord, Holy Redeemer in Vanderbilt, and St.Thomas Aquinas in Elmira.

Rev. Anthony Cureton has been relieved as Pa rochial Vicar for St. Francis of Assisi, Traverse City and has been appointed to serve as an adjunct member of the faculty of Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools in Traverse City. He will also continue serving as Chaplain to the Carmelite Monastery of the Infant Jesus of Prague in Traverse City.

Effective July 23, 2012

Rev. Robbie Deka is returning to the Diocese of Gaylord and has been appointed Administrator of St. Mary Parish in Grayling. Fr. Deka has been serving in the Diocese of Honolulu, Hawaii, with the permission of Bishop Bernard Hebda.

Rev. James M. Doherty will be released as Administrator of St. Mary Parish in Grayling and will provide replacement ministry.

Effective August 1, 2012

Rev. Joseph T. Ortega has been appointed Parochial Vicar for the parishes of St. Mary-St. Charles in Cheboygan, St. Clement in Pellston, and Sacred Heart in Riggsville. He has been serving as Parochial Vicar for St. Patrick Parish in Traverse City.

Effective August 15, 2012

Rev. Donald Geyman has been released as Pastor of St. Patrick Parish in Traverse City, as well as President of the Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools. He will return to full-time vocations ministry.

Rev. Gregory P. McCallum has been appointed Pastor of St. Patrick Parish in Traverse City, as well as President of the Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools. He has been serving as Pastor for the parishes of St. Mary, St. Bernard, St. John the Baptist, and St. Anne in Alpena.

Rev. Richard Schaeffer has been appointed Administrator for the parishes of St. Mary, St. Bernard, St. John the Baptist, and St. Anne in Alpena. This assignment is made with the permission of the Most Reverend Alexander K. Sample, Bishop of Marquette. He has been serving as Parochial Vicar for the parishes of St. Mary-St. Charles in Cheboygan, St. Clement in Pellston, and Sacred Heart in Riggsville.
