Teens -- This summer could change your life!

03/14/2012

Applications for the Christian Leadership Institute (CLI) are now available. The program runs from Sunday to Friday (June 17-June 22, 2012), and will be held at the Lake Louise Camp in Boyne Falls, MI. Youth who have completed the 8th grade are invited to participate.

CLI is a part of the faith development program of the diocese specifically designed for youth. The vision for youth ministry is much greater than just serving teens for a temporary moment in time. It is about the spiritual welfare of young people throughout their life journey. It is the goal of faith development to nurture them and guide them, pray for them and with them throughout their life. Each of the faithful has a responsibility to give encouragement, affirmation and skills to our youth to carry with them into their adult life. CLI offers all this and more.

CLI empowers young people through prayer and worship to recognize their own gifts and provides leadership training that assists youth to become strong Catholic Christian leaders in their parish, school and community. The program offers skills in designing creative prayer activities, liturgical ministry roles, communication and administrative skills.

Though the actual event lasts a week, many previous attendees have said the effects “last a lifetime.”

The program has helped many of our young people with the transition into college, and from college into the workforce. Students often share stories about how much they have benefitted from the leadership skills and faith sharing which occurs during the CLI. In fact, each year several CLI alumni take time from their own family, school and work schedules to lead activities and serve as team members in an effort to not only put the skills they learned to use and give back to the Lord, but also to ensure other teens have the opportunity to engage in the CLI experience.

Cost for the week is $350 which includes housing, meals and materials. To attend CLI 2012 a completed Student Application Form, Adult Recommendation, and a $100 deposit are due at the diocese by March 16th. The $100 non-refundable application fee will be applied to the total cost of the CLI process. The remaining fees and final paperwork (which is sent to students upon receipt of initial application) are due by April 27.
