Tickets for 40th Anniversary Mass and Picnic

07/01/2011

Tickets are now available for the 40th Anniversary Mass and Family Picnic . The liturgy is the highlight event of the year long celebration of the Diocese of Gaylord. Everyone is invited to gather at St. Mary Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cathedral in Gaylord on Wednesday, July 20 . The date corresponds to the actual date of the establishment of the Diocese of Gaylord. The Mass will begin at 5:00 p.m. and will be preceded by the 40 Hour Devotion for the central vicariate which begins on Monday, July 18 at 1:00 p.m.) . All four Bishops who have served the Diocese of Gaylord are currently planning to attend the Anniversary Mass including Cardinal Edmund Szoka, Bishop Robert Rose, Bishop Patrick Cooney and Bishop Bernard Hebda. Priests of the Diocese will also concelebrate and a special choir along with musicians from around the diocese will help us pray well.

After the Mass, the celebration will continue with a picnic on the cathedral grounds. Live music will be provided by popular polka band Big Daddy Lackowski.

Tickets for the 40th Anniversary Mass and Picnic have been distributed to parishes and though there is no cost to attend, participants are asked to request a ticket so that appropriate plans can be made for food and space. Please contact your parish office or the Diocesan Pastoral Center by July 13 to obtain tickets.

All Gaylord Diocese Parish Members — children through adults (individuals, families, school students, faith formation Groups, Bible study groups…) — are also invited to prepare mini banners to be displayed at the July celebration. The activity will not only provide décor for the picnic, but is yet another opportunity to discuss as a family, school or parish group, the significance of the faith life and ministry of this diocese as we reflect upon the past and look forward to the future together.
