Bishop Hebda Appointed Advisor
On April 14, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI appointed Bishop Bernard A. Hebda as an advisor to the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts. He was the only American appointed.
While in Rome, Bishop Hebda had worked in the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts since 1996, and had served as Undersecretary from 2003 until he was named Bishop of the Diocese of Gaylord in 2009. The Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts is part of the Roman Curia whose work consists primarily in interpreting the laws of the Church, especially the Code of Canon
