Attention High School Young Men: Join Us for a Special Retreat

High school boys (grades 9-12) from across the diocese are invited to the fifth annual St. Andrew Task Force Retreat to be held at St. Mary Cathedral School in Gaylord January 7-9, 2011. This year’s retreat is themed, “Nothing but Net: What are your goals in life?” and will encourage participants to consider how they might live as faithful Catholic men and also to reflect upon how they will respond and live out whatever vocation God is calling them to.

The retreat will feature opportunities for prayer as well as inspirational presentations by Bishop Bernard Hebda, Vocations Director Fr. Don Geyman and Fr. Gerald Okoli. Seminarians currently studying for the Diocese of Gaylord will also be leading activities. A highlight of the event will be attending a special dinner to kick off the 2011 Vocations Awareness Week. Of course, socializing and “net” time with other young men from our diocese are important components to the retreat.

Space is limited to 40, so those interested in attending should register early. Registration forms may be obtained from local parishes and Catholic schools or downloaded by clicking on the link below. A cost of $25 is requested to partially cover meals and activities with the remaining costs funded through gifts to the annual Catholic Services Appeal. Deadline for registration is December 21, 2010.

“This retreat has always been a great event and blessing to all involved – students and chaperones alike,” said Fr. Geyman. “We also do not want anyone to be excluded due to financial concerns so if someone needs assistance they can contact me.” Fr. Geyman added.

For more information, contact Fr. Geyman or Judy Abeel at the diocesan offices at 989.732.5147.
