Diocese of Gaylord joins Holy Father in Vigil for Human Life
On Saturday, November 27th at St. Peters Basilica, Pope Benedict XVI celebrated a Vigil for All Nascent [beginning to develop or exist] Human Life coinciding with first vespers of the First Sunday of Advent.
The Holy Father had also requested that all Diocesan Bishops (and their equivalent) of every particular church preside in analogous celebrations involving the faithful in their respective parishes, religious communities, associations and movements.
Catholics in the Diocese of Gaylord joined the Holy Father and their brothers and sisters across the globe in praying for life through Holy Hours and other services held in various locations of the diocese.
Bishop Bernard Hebda presided at Evening Prayer for the First Sunday of Advent with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction at St. Mary Cathedral in Gaylord. He was also the celebrant for the Mass which followed and then the Bishop led the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary to conclude the evening.
Services were also held at Holy Family Parish in East Tawas, St. Bernard Parish in Alpena, St. Patrick Parish in Traverse City, Holy Rosary Parish in Cedar, and St. Francis of Assisi in Lewiston on Saturday. St. Francis Xavier Parish in Petoskey held a service on Sunday, November 28 and St. Anne Parish in Frankfort offered a prayer service for life on December 3
