The Institution of Readers and Acolytes took place at the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio, on Sunday, November 7. The Most Reverend Wilton D. Gregory (center) of the Archdiocese of Atlanta was the principal celebrant. William MacMaster (left) received the ministry of Reader, while Bryan Medlin (right) received the ministry of Acolyte. First-year theology students installed as Readers are commissioned to proclaim the Word of God in the liturgical assembly and to catechize the faithful. Acolytes, who are second-year theology students, are entrusted with the duties of attending to the altar, assisting the deacon and priest at Mass, and distributing Holy Communion as an extraordinary minister.
