Dr. Ray Guarendi to Provide Keynote for Fundraiser
Baraga Broadcasting invites devotees and supporters of Catholic radio in Northern Michigan to attend a fundraising dinner on Friday, April 16, at Holy Childhood Parish Hall in Harbor Springs. The evening event will include an elegant dinner followed by a presentation by keynote speaker, Dr. Ray Guarendi. Since Fall of 2003, Baraga Broadcasting has worked to provide Catholic radio throughout Northern Michigan. With support from the local bishops in the Diocese of Gaylord and Diocese of Marquette, the effort has always been predominantly a lay initiative. Programming from Baraga Broadcasting can now be heard through four Catholic radio stations in the area and the Federal Communications Commission has recently ruled in favor to add two more. Funding the efforts remains one of the major challenges. The goal of this special evening is to fill the hall to capacity in order to help to raise the necessary funds needed to expand the voice of Catholic radio throughout the Diocese of Gaylord as well as the eastern third of the Upper Peninsula. The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. with hors doeuvres accompanied with music by Gary and Madeline Guevara. Dinner will be catered by Around the Bay Catering of Harbor Springs and feature a choice of two dinner entrees with dessert leading to the keynote presentation. Father of 10 children, Dr. Ray Guarendi is also a clinical psychologist, author, public speaker and radio host. He is the well-known host of the radio program titled, The Doctor is in which airs at 1:00 p.m. each day on Baraga Radio, 90.0; 92.1; 95.1 FM and 940 AM. Dr. Guarendi has been a regular guest on national radio and television, including Oprah, Joan Rivers, Scott Ross Prime Time, 700 Club, Gordon Elliot, and CBS This Morning. He's appeared on regional radio and television shows in over 40 states and Canada and has been the program psychologist for Cleveland's Morning Exchange, Pittsburgh 2-Day, and AM Indiana. He has written several books, including Discipline That Lasts a Lifetime; Youre a Better Parent Than You Think! (now in its twenty-fifth printing); Back to the Family; and his newest book, Good Discipline, Great Teens. He states that one of his goals is to help people raise great kids. Using humor and real-life examples, Dr. Guarendis topic for the April 16 evening in Harbor Springs will be a Look at Life and Relationships.
