Retreat to Focus on "Everyday Epiphanies"
All women are invited to participate in the Diocesan Council of Catholic Womens Silent Retreat October 16-18, 2009 at the Augustine Center in Conway. The theme for this years gathering will be Everyday Epiphanies lead by Sr. Rita Epple, RSM. Sr. Rita currently serves in the Diocese of Gaylord as the Pastoral Administrator for St. Dominic Parish in Metz. During the retreat, we will explore how God touches our lives in the small and not so small ways every day, Sr. Rita explained. We all have experiences that can be joyful or sorrowful which are part of our everyday lives. I hope to help the women see how God is at work in each of those moments. Sr. Rita plans to use poetry, scripture, readings, personal stories, and music to highlight her presentations. Most of all, I will encourage the ladies to reflect on their lives in the quiet of this weekend and to share some of those reflections with the group, Sr. Rita added. Fr. Francis Partridge will serve as the Sacramental Minister and will be available to participants throughout the weekend. Located just north of Petoskey, the Augustine Center is a Catholic retreat house at the Sacramentine Monastery. It features a tranquil setting between a nature preserve, woodlands and Crooked Lake providing a wonderful setting for prayer, relaxation and reflection. There are many walking paths on the grounds as well as an outdoor labyrinth, shrine and Stations of the Cross. Inside are many cozy small gathering areas, meeting rooms and a Chapel. Bedrooms are private with their own bathroom. The retreat begins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday (Oct. 16) and will conclude at 1:00 p.m. Sunday (Oct 18). Cost is $105 per person which includes meals and overnight accommodations for two nights. For more information or to register, contact the Augustine Center at 231.347.3657.
