Just Works
The Just Works experience, for youth, introduces young people to concepts: peace and justice, Catholic Social Teaching, and the scriptural background for that teaching. Just Works challenges young people to live out the Gospel call to peace and justice in their personal lives. The program enables youth to understand Catholic Social Teaching and apply it to peace and justice issues and to act on this application. The program will be held in beautiful Traverse City at the old home of CLI—Twin Lakes.
It will offer justice education through presentations, sharing, experiential simulations, prayer, and community living. There will also be plenty of good food and recreational time—including a sports field and a beach.
SPACE IS RESTRICTED TO 35 YOUTH.

Summer Youth Mission Experience
WHAT IS THE SUMMER YOUTH MISSION EXPERIENCE?
It is a model for learning about “solidarity”. An opportunity for mature youth together with their parents and/or youth ministers, to be challenged, to deepen their faith and share their talents.
By providing the following experiences, we hope to open the way to accomplish these goals:
* Being a Catholic presence at the migrant camps through prayer, songs, skits, and
reflection.
* Visiting and sharing with migrant families at their homes and places of work.
* Meeting community leaders and having daily group reflection time.
* Celebrating the Eucharist with the local Hispanic and the migrant community.
We will use the educational model, “See, Analyze, Judge, Act” to develop and evaluate our experiences.

World Youth Day
Attention Young Adults - ages 18 -35
Every three years our Pope invites young adults from around the world to join him for a time of prayer, catechesis, and reflection. The site for World Youth Day 2011 is Madrid, Spain. Bishop Hebda has made this event a priority in his schedule. With enthusiasm he issues an invitation to priests and young adults from across our Diocese to consider participating in this spiritual pilgrimage with him. Kate Wilde, from St. Mary Cathedral Parish, is coordinating this event for the Gaylord Diocese. Gaylord is partnering with three other Michigan Dioceses - Grand Rapid, Kalamazoo and Marquette - for advance preparations and participation in World Youth Day 2011.
