WEEKEND OF MAY 10 - MAY 11, 2008
***************************************************************************
FROM FATHER JIM ..... As we begin this week, we will be half way through May. This past week was spent with marriage preparation for three couples. There were also the funerals of Cecelia Weber and Wilma Stachnik. Please remember them and their families in your prayers ..... On Wednesday we had a dinner for the Religious Formation teachers, then the School Mass and Healing Mass on Thursday. This weekend is the Youth Group's Granny's Attic and Grandpa's Garage Sale. Take a look! ..... This weekend we are celebrating Pentecost Sunday, when God the Father and Son sent the Holy Spirit to be among us to guide us on earth on our journey to eternal life ..... It is also Mother's Day and mothers do the same for all of their children with the grace of God. I sent my mother her card and gift earlier this week ..... Next week there are two more couples to come in for marriage prep. A small wedding on Thursday, a staff meeting, and Father Jim Gardiner's birthday party are also on the schedule ..... Your pastor will write a follow-up letter for those we have not been able to contact for CSA - Catholic Services Appeal. So far we are near our Target of $110,390 set by the Diocese of Gaylord. Thank you for your generosity and rest assured you are remembered in my prayers ..... Next Sunday, May 18th, at the 10:00 a.m. Mass, we will honor our graduates followed by a brunch for them and their families in Centennial Hall. Another new beginning for our graduates! ..... God Bless You ..... Father Jim .....
MOTHER'S DAY
A Very Happy Mother's Day to All of Our Mothers
Whether With Us or Far Away or In God's Hands
Thank You For Being Mom
ADULT BROWN BAG SCRIPTURE SHARING .....
Twice a month on Wednesdays, anyone interested in breaking open the Scriptures of the weekend is invited to join in Scripture Sharing in Centennial Hall. We meet from Noon to 1:00 p.m.. Scripture Sharing focuses on our response to the Scripture. Lunch time sharing can work for you if you have a limited time from work. Come when you can, leave when you must. But Come!!! The schedule is: May 14th, May 28th, June 11th, June 25th, July 16th, July 30th, August 13th, and August 27th. Brown bag if you like. I'll put on the coffee pot. Contact Dannie at 946-2782 with any questions.
LANDSCAPING PROJECT We have entered into a contract with Zimmerman Landscaping to redo the front of the church and hall. We will be placing five Burning Bushes along the walk to the parking lot and planting one along the wall to the west of the church. The area where the sign is will stay as a grass area, but the sign needs to be redone. In front of the hall there weill be several changes by removing some of the old bushes and replacing them with several new ones, including one tree and some grasses. Anyone wishing to help out by a donation can send it to the rectory or by placing it in the collection basket in a separate envelope. Please make sure it is marked as Landscaping Project ..... Thanks for your help! ..... Your Maintenance Director, Bill

THOUGHT FOR THE RIDE HOME .....
Today's Gospel shows Jesus coming to the disciples in a new and entirely different way. So, after this Pentecost event, we live in a new way. Jesus doesn't speak of organizing or enforcing rules, but offers a liberating message: "You are sent as I was sent." That means heal, encourage, love until the last drop of energy evaporates. It is both harder and simpler than we often think of as the church's work: teach morality, preserve the organization, obey the laws. But the strentgth to carry out their command will come from the Holy Spirit - light as breath, necessary as oxygen. Where do you see the Holy Spirit active in your world today? ..... Faith Formation Office .....
DIOCESE TO OFFER EXTRAORDINARY FORM OF MASS ..... Bishop Patrick R. Cooney has announced that the extraordinary form of the Mass will be offered publicly beginning on Pentecost, May 11th, 2008. Father Donald Libby will be the presider for a weekly celebration of the Mass according to the 1962 Roman Missal, often referred to as "The Latin Mass". The Mass will be offered at Holy Rosary Church in Cedar on Sundays at 12:45 p.m. unless Father Libby is away or unavailable. Father Libby is currently the only priest qualified to offer this Mass publicly in the Diocese of Gaylord.
