Baraga Broadcasting Expands Again
May 22, 2008
With your help and support, Catholic Radio in the Diocese of Gaylord is growing. Baraga Broadcasting, now has an additional transmitter, W221CA 92.1 FM in Gaylord. Joining with the "mother station" WTCK, 90.9 FM, and W237CF 95.3 FM in Mackinaw City it will complete an area of coverage from Boyne Falls along Michigan's west coast, Cheboygan, Mackinaw City, Gaylord and their surrounding areas. Proclaiming a Catholic message, these stations can be heard all day, every day throughout the year.
In its fifth year, the venture to provide Catholic Radio throughout the Diocese of Gaylord has primarily been made by dedicated Catholic lay people, and is currently an all volunteer operation. If financial considerations continue their growth, paid staff could be added by the end of this year.
Baraga Broadcasting, affiliated with EWTN Radio and Ave Maria Radio, features most of Catholic Radio's favorite offerings. They include: Fr. Harry Speckman and "Gaylord Conversations," "Christ Is The Answer," "Notes From Above," Bishop Sheen, Mother Angelica, "Catholic Connection" with Teresa Tomeo, "The Doctor Is In" with Drs. Ray Guarendi and Colleen Kelly Mast, "Kresta in the Afternoon," "Deep in Scripture" and the widely favored "Catholic Answers." Mass from the EWTN Chapel and devotionals such as the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet are offered on a daily basis.
A community calendar is provided in support of local church events (the community calendar is also carried on the Baraga Broadcasting website at www.baragabroadcasting.com) Weather news for the coverage area is included in the broadcasts as well as interviews with various personalities in the Diocese of Gaylord.
