Attend "Alternative" World Youth Day
April 02, 2008
Teens from our diocese are invited to an “alternative” World Youth Day celebration this summer. While our Holy Father is meeting with young people in Sydney, Australia, youth from Michigan and Ohio unable to travel “down under” can gather in Sidney, Ohio instead!
An expected 1,000 young people will gather on the grounds of Lehman Catholic High School in Sidney. Live bands and inspiring speakers will guide participants through an invigorating, faith-filled experience of fun and fellowship, similar to the international World Youth Day events.
The Diocese of Gaylord has reserved space for up to 90 individuals to attend this event. Busses will leave Gaylord the evening of July 18, and return on Sunday July 20.
While 8th-12 grade students are the target audience for this event, separate breakout sessions are also being offered for young adults up to age 30. All activities will be offered in both English and Spanish.
The cost of the trip is $170, which includes accommodations, transportation, event registration, t-shirt, and all meals except those while in transit. The initial registration deadline is in April, so contact your youth minister or Kate Wilde at (989) 705-3568 today for registration information.
