Chrism Mass

The Chrism Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 18 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Cathedral in Gaylord, Bishop John M. Quinn will preside. The Chrism Mass is the celebration during which the holy oils to be used for the catechumens and the sick are blessed, and the oil of Chrism will be consecrated. These oils are then transported to parishes to be used throughout the year. It is also the celebration during which the priests of the diocese renew their commitment to service and receive prayers and support of the people. It is one of the special liturgies which provide an opportunity for the faithful of the entire diocese to gather and worship together as well as a visible expression of our being part of the larger Catholic community.
