Regional Workshops for Cantors and Music Ministers

The Secretariat for Worship and Liturgical formation, in collaboration with the Center for Catholic Studies, recently began holding workshops for the enrichment of those in parish music ministry. The first was offered at St. Mary in Grayling and the second was held at the Boyne Valley Catholic Community's St. Matthew church in Boyne City. The presenter at these two workshops was Mary Sellars-Malloy, a favorite with many musicians in the diocese.

The role of music in the liturgy as well as specific warm-up techniques for preparing to sing in church were covered in each of the three hour clinics.

If you are in Music Ministry, or are thinking of becoming involved, there are several more workshops scheduled across the diocese with a variety of presenters. The dates and locations include: February 9 – East Tawas; February 10 – St. Anne, Alpena; February 16 – St. Mary,Manistee; February 17 – Acme and Prudenville; February 24 – Mackinaw City.

Pre-registration is required for these events. The cost to attend is $20 per person or $15 per person for additional attendees from the same parish. You may attend any location that fits your schedule.
