"Christ, Be Our Light"
The theme of this years annual Catholic Services Appeal is “Christ, Be Our Light”, and it is meant to emphasize our call to serve the Lord as he guides us in becoming stewards of his many gifts.
It is exactly this call as stewards that leads us to support the Church in its efforts through the Catholic Services Appeal. Gifts to the Catholic Services Appeal have made ministry possible, both at home and abroad, by providing for the poor through Catholic charities, supporting evangelization and religious vocations, as well as working through agencies such as Catholic Human Services.
The Catholic Services Appeal is crucial to the life of Diocese, as it enables our agencies, parishes, and programs to continue their ministries in northern Michigan and beyond. A successful CSA campaign is found in the positive and sincere enthusiasm of the dedicated clergy and volunteers of each parish. Please be generous in sharing your time, talent and treasure with those of your parish and the entire Diocese of Gaylord. A dollar a day for CSA!
Consider the price of a cup of coffee, or the price of one spin of a casino wheel...a small sacrifice can mean big things for your parish! If every parishioner found a way to pledge 75 cents or a dollar a day to CSA then every parish in the Diocese would go over target! Think about the needs that could be met in your local parish with monies refunded for going over target!

This manual has been prepared to assist you in your work during the 2008 CSA, please use these ideas for inspiration, or feel free to copy them outright. It includes sample letters, suggestions for priest’s and lay witness remarks, intercessions, pulpit and bulletin announcements as well as other resources that will be helpful as the appeal is conducted.
