St. Francis Xavier Parish is seeking a full time Parish Catechetical Director to lead, develop, and oversee the process of life long faith formation of all our parishioners under the direction of our pastor, and in collaboration with the parish and school staff.
Develop and lead Sacramental Preparation and Faith Formation programs for our school age children (K-8); review, select and acquire suitable materials for these programs which are in conformity to diocesan guidelines; ensures our school’s religious education curriculum meet diocesan requirements, guidelines and standards, as well as those in the National Catechetical Directory; recruit sufficient volunteers and aides to conduct the parish’s catechetical programs; ensure volunteer catechists obtain diocesan certification and support them in their efforts; evaluate catechists annually and offer constructive suggestions for improvement as needed; works as a resource for the school and parish staff; works with parents to assure their support and involvement in the parish’s catechetical process; oversees other parish faith formation programs (e.g., High School, Adult programs, RCIA) to ensure an integrated approach to all catechetical efforts; develop comprehensive calendar of all catechetical program and coordinate this with the parish’s master calendar; prepares annual budget and oversees expenditures after its approval by finance committee; arranges for use of the facilities needed to conduct the catechetical programs; maintain accurate records related to registration, attendance and student evaluations, as well as any required documentation related to sacramental preparation and celebration; must be available evenings and weekends as necessary; must be able to lift 25 pounds and remain standing for long periods of time.
