The Human Resources Department of the Diocese of Gaylord is committed to providing safe environment for children, and other services and benefits which promote spiritual as well as personal growth for everyone. Through these programs, we strive to foster a comfortable work environment and enhance positive work relationships. With the above Mission Statement at the forefront of what we do, the Human Resources Office is responsible for the maintenance of personnel records for the diocesan central offices, oversees the administration of employee benefits and maintains payroll information for the central office staff. We also provide human resource services for all the schools and parishes in the diocese and is responsible for job descriptions, performance appraisals, salary ranges, salary surveys and human resource training for the diocese.
The staff is also available to assist schools and parishes with questions related to employment and benefits for any staff member.
Listed below are the current forms that are required for any volunteer at any parish, school or diocesan office.
New Staff Orientation Day
If you have recently hired new staff members, please invite and encourage them to attend this seminar. It is being held on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, from 9:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Diocesan Pastoral Center, Cooney Conference Center in Gaylord. There will be an opening prayer to officially welcome new staff members to the Diocese. Even if staff members have been working for awhile, they will find useful information and should be encouraged to attend.
Be sure to bring any questions that you may have. This will be the day to get some answers.
Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. Prayer and Presentations will begin at 9:15 a.m., ending at approximately 2:30 p.m. Lunch will be served. In order to properly prepare handouts, seating and lunch, it is very important that you pre-register.

All those who minister to children or young people are to be educated about the nature of child sexual abuse, how it is perpetrated, how to report it, and strategies for prevention. The Diocese of Gaylord has implemented a training program by the name of “VIRTUS”. VIRTUS is a national program, widely in use in dioceses throughout the United States. It is a web-based on-line training program that specializes in helping churches and religious organizations create safe environments for children and youth. The program is mandatory for all adults [employees or volunteers] whether or not they interact on a regular basis with children in the Gaylord Diocese.

Instructions Regarding Background Checks and Safe Environment Programs
If you are in the process of being hired, or being approved as a volunteer, you will find the instructions regarding the qualifications for background checks for both positions. Find out what the qualifications are for the ICHAT (name search only) or fingerprint background check.
You will also find the Safe Environment Programs that are required for you to complete in the Diocese of Gaylord whether you are a volunteer or employee. As of July 1, 2015, Bishop Raica has mandated that each employee and each volunteer who has exposure with children complete safe environment training through Virtus. Log on to Virtus.org, create a user ID and password and complete the course that is offered there for the Diocese of Gaylord. Let your parish and/or school know when you have completed it.

If you are working through a temp agency or have had a fingerprint report done through another employer you will need the Authorization For Release of Records and Reports form below. This authorizes the former entity to release your records to the diocese. If they comply, you will not have to have the report done at this time.
New Hire Forms
Additional New Hire Forms Required for School Employees
State law requires all schools (both non-public and public) to conduct an Unprofessional Conduct check on all newly employed teachers with their current or former employers. The employee will be required to sign the Consent for Release of Information Form which will be kept on file at the school. The Information Request Form will then be forwarded to the current or former employer for their completion.

Below are the newest versions of the Principal and Teacher contracts. These are the only contracts that are to be used. Please destroy any copies of older versions that you may have in you files. We have also added an Offer of Employment to be used for parishes or schools.

This form is not intended to be a general release for all volunteers. This is for SPECIAL PROJECTS only. Volunteers should not be using any heavy equipment or do any work with electricical and/or plumbing, etc.
