Ordination to the Priesthood of Deacon Jim Siler

Sept 14, 2017
1:00 PM
Holy Cross
37860 King's Highway Beaver Island, Michigan 49782

Bishop Steven J. Raica has announced that the Ordination of the Priesthood of Deacon James Siler will take place on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Church on Beaver Island.  The date coincides with the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, the parish’s feast day.  A reception will follow the liturgy. Vespers will be held at 7:00 p.m. on the eve of the ordination, Wednesday, September 13, also at Holy Cross Church on Beaver Island. Everyone is welcome. Space inside the Holy Cross Church is limited, however, so plans are being made for overflow areas across the street as well as for live streaming the liturgies on the internet.

Deacon Siler received a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies in 2009 from Grand Canyon University and received his Master of Divinity from Loyola University in 2013. He was ordained to the diaconate by Bishop Patrick R. Cooney on February 7, 2009 and has served several parishes in the diocese as well as worked as a Chaplain for Mercy Hospital in Grayling and Cadillac.

Deacon Siler was named Pastoral Administrator of Holy Cross Parish by Bishop  Raica on November 1, 2015.
