Diocese of Gaylord

Through a variety of meetings and programs sponsored by the Secretariat for Faith Formation of Children and Youth, the Coordinators of Religious Education are assisted in the ministry of faith formation for children and youth. The Coordinators of Religious Education gather often for time together in prayer, and to keep updated on recent trends in catechetics and networking with other Coordinators within their vicariates.

The Diocese is promoting the "Echoes of Faith" series produced by the National Conference of Catechetical Leadership (NCCL) as the foundation tool for local parishes to use in the faith formation of the volunteer catechists.

Coordinators of Religious Education are also assisted by the Diocesan Parish Religious Education Handbook, and the recently published guidelines for Selecting Catechetical Material, which list those textbooks series that are recommended for use in the parishes throughout the Diocese.

Currently, the Diocese of Gaylord recommends any of the textbook series approved by the USCCB for conformity with the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Copies of many of the recommended textbooks are available to review in the Rose Resource Center.

The Secretariat for Faith Formation of Children and Youth also seeks to assist Coordinators of Religious Education in developing the theological, catechetical and administrative skills needed for this important parish ministry.
