24 Hours for the Lord
"Miracles happen. But prayer is needed! Prayer that is courageous, struggling and persevering, not prayer that is a mere formality." - Pope Francis on Twitter, May 24, 2013
Pope Francis has invited every parish around the world to open its doors for 24 hours on Friday, March 24th, and Saturday, March 25th, so that the faithful might encounter Jesus Christ anew in the Sacrament of Confession and Eucharistic Adoration. Several parishes around the Diocese of Gaylord will be hosting 24 Hours for the Lord, giving all of the faithful in the diocese an opportunity to spend time with the Lord in the silent prayers of adoration, receive God's healing mercy of confession and reconciliation, pray with their brothers and sisters in Christ, and much more.
This initiative is organized by the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization and will take place during the 4th week of Lent. Pope Francis has issued this invitation in the hopes that active Catholic and inactive Catholics alike may have an opportunity to pray in front of the Blessed Sacrament, attend reconciliation, speak with a priest, and reconnect with the Lord.
